Les Rallizes Dénudés' Takashi Mizutani's envisioned "4th album" is finally realized after 35 years. The release of the album titled "Disque 4" has been decided.

Les Rallizes Dénudés' new album "Disque 4 -'76 Studio et Live-" will be simultaneously released on CD and LP (color vinyl) on Wednesday, April 1st. Furthermore, in advance of this album, the single "Shiroi Mezame" (White Awakening) began worldwide distribution on Friday, February 13th.
When the three original albums ('67-'69 STUDIO et LIVE, MIZUTANI / Les Rallizes Dénudés, '77 LIVE) were released in 1991, Takashi Mizutani was simultaneously working on another album.
Among the materials prepared on various media such as U-matic, open reel, and DAT, the number "4" was written on all of them, including notations like "Disque 4" and "Record No. 4," indicating that they were for a "fourth album." Furthermore, traces were found indicating an attempt to compile these materials into an analog record format (approximately 20 minutes each for side A and side B).
It was also discovered that the songs, mainly studio performances, collected from multiple sources were consistently recorded in 1976. This aligns with testimony that Mizutani himself once hinted at the existence of "another album consisting of studio recordings made with the same members as '77 LIVE,' in addition to the three albums that were released."
However, it is not difficult to imagine that in the early 90s, when the system was just transitioning from analog records to compact discs, releasing an analog record would have been extremely difficult. As a result, the "4th album" became a phantom work.
This album reconstructs the songs selected by Mizutani for his fourth album, excluding "Hibiscus no Hana Arui wa Michitarita Shi" (Hibiscus Flower, or the Satiated Death) (included in "Jittoku '76"). Based on Mizutani's remaining masters, original-like tapes were unearthed and used, and the album was once again produced and mastered by Makoto Kubota.
While Les Rallizes Dénudés' music is known for its immense volume and performance time in live settings, this work, compiled into the size of a single analog record primarily from studio recordings, transcends the image of an aggressive flood of noise, clearly bringing to light the "lyricism" at its core. And it goes without saying that this is also what currently attracts fans worldwide to Les Rallizes.

The pre-release single "Shiroi Mezame / White Awakening" from this album is now available on various streaming services.

"Disque 4" may have been conceived as a counterpart to "'77 LIVE." It has a higher poetic sensibility than any album released so far. I would even call it the album of the poet, Takashi Mizutani. I was once again deeply moved, realizing that Les Rallizes Dénudés was an entity where a single note conveyed tens of thousands of words.
