Sweet William / Division (LP)

Sweet William to release 'Division,' an instrumental album created over approximately two years, on Friday, September 30.

'Division,' an all-instrumental work that Sweet William spent roughly two years meticulously crafting, signals a major shift from the very first note. Embracing a beatless structure, he has ventured into a new approach to sound design.

Modern yet timeless. Featuring comfortable grooves and a cinematic sense of weightlessness, the 10 tracks are colored by a wide range of approaches. While traversing various musical boundaries, the familiar, accessible textures and tones characteristic of Sweet William remain as a more solid, underlying core throughout the work than ever before.

With this album, Sweet William has expanded the domain of his musical expression, revealing a new musicality that emerges beyond his established instincts as a beatmaker, while imbuing the tracks with the depth and space reminiscent of film scores and soundtracks.

The mastering was handled by Joe Joaquin, while the jacket design and art direction were provided by designer Tatsuya Ariyama. The photograph adorning the front cover was taken by photographer Chieko Shiraishi. The vinyl record jacket features a special design that recreates the flipback covers of the 1960s.
