【Kanako Wada Profile】
With a unique background in the Sculpture Department of the Tokyo University of the Arts, Kanako Wada made her major debut from Toshiba EMI in 1985, the same year she graduated. Following her debut, her overwhelming vocal ability and sophisticated appearance led her to release numerous drama theme songs and commercial jingles, including insert songs for the popular TV anime *Kimagure Orange Road*. She has garnered enthusiastic support from anime and music fans not only in Japan but across the world. After five years of intense musical activity, she retired from the public stage, much to the regret of her fans.
In 2024, she held a miraculous comeback concert after 35 years, which became a major topic of conversation among long-time fans as well as listeners of the modern city pop boom. In 2025, she held her first-ever overseas performance in China, which sold out on the same day. In April 2026, she held a solo concert in Taipei, Taiwan. The event became a legendary performance that was hastily switched to a standing-room-only format due to the overwhelming number of fans that far exceeded expectations.
