Les Rallizes Dénudés’ "fourth album" envisioned by Takashi Mizutani finally materialized after 35 years. The release of the album titled "Disque 4" has been decided.

Les Rallizes Dénudés' new album "Disque 4 -'76 Studio et Live-" is set to be simultaneously released on CD and LP (color vinyl) on Wednesday, April 1st. Additionally, the single "White Awakening" from this album was released worldwide on Friday, February 13th, as a先行配信 (pre-release streaming single).
When the three original albums ('67-'69 STUDIO et LIVE, MIZUTANI / Les Rallizes Dénudés, '77 LIVE) were released in 1991, Takashi Mizutani was simultaneously working on another album.
The materials, prepared on various media such as U-matic, open reel, and DAT, all contained the number "4," including notations like "Disque 4" and "Record No.4," indicating that they were for a "fourth album." Furthermore, traces were found suggesting an attempt to compile these materials into an analog record format (divided into A and B sides, each lasting about 20-odd minutes).
It was also discovered that the tracks, mainly studio performances gathered from multiple sources, were consistently recorded in 1976. This aligns with testimony that Mizutani himself once hinted at the existence of "another album consisting of studio recordings made with the same members as '77 LIVE,' in addition to the three albums that were released."
However, in the early 1990s, when the system was just transitioning from analog records to compact discs, it is not difficult to imagine that releasing an analog record was extremely difficult to realize. Thus, the "fourth album" became a phantom work.
This work reconfigures the songs selected by Mizutani for the fourth album, excluding "Hibiscus no Hana Aruiwa Michitarita Shi" (※included in "Jittoku '76"). Based on Mizutani's masters, tapes close to the original were unearthed and used, and the album was created again through Makoto Kubota's production work and mastering.
Les Rallizes Dénudés' music is known for its immense volume and playing time in live performances, but by compiling this work, primarily consisting of studio recordings, into the size of a single analog record, the "lyricism" at its core emerges vividly, transcending the image of an aggressive flood of noise. And it goes without saying that this is also the charm of Les Rallizes that currently attracts fans worldwide.

Also, the pre-release single "Shiroi Mezame / White Awakening" from this album is now available on various streaming services.

"Disque 4" may have been conceived as a counterpart to "'77 LIVE." It has a higher poetic sensibility than any album released so far. I would even call it an album by the poet Takashi Mizutani. I was once again deeply impressed that Les Rallizes Dénudés was an entity where a single sound conveyed tens of thousands of words.
