"Jacks no Kiseki" (Miracle of Jacks), the second album released after the breakup of the pioneers of Japanese rock, Jacks, gets its first vinyl reissue in 30 years since the 1996 LP release.
Born in late 60s Tokyo, Jacks was a peerless band with an intense originality that fit into no category—neither folk, GS, jazz, nor new rock.
At the time of the release of their first album, "Jacks no Sekai," guitarist Haruo Mizuhashi left the band, and Hiro Tsunoda (now Hiro Tsunoda★) joined as the drummer.
However, during the production of this album, Yoshio Hayakawa departed, leaving six of the 11 tracks with vocals by Hayakawa, while the remaining tracks were handled by new member Tsunoda.
The tracks that Hayakawa did not participate in featured contributions from former members Mizuhashi and Kazuhiko Kato, making for an unconventional production; by the time this album was released, the band had already broken up.
Despite being created under such chaotic circumstances, the overwhelming worldview of songs like "Datenshi Rock," "Hana ga Saite," "Roll Over Yuranosuke," and "Teki wa Tooku ni" continues to deliver a fresh impact even today.
After leaving Jacks, vocalist Yoshio Hayakawa released his solo album "Kakkoii Koto wa Nante Kakko Waruin Darou" in 1969, managed a bookstore, and resumed his music career in 1994.
