FRYING DUTCHMAN: Rock 'n' roll carved to be sung for 1,000 years. Simultaneous CD and LP release of their new album "Kamonohashi," featuring the modern-day Kyoto counting song "Kamonohashi"!
Kyoto-based FRYING DUTCHMAN will release their new album, "Kamonohashi," simultaneously on CD and LP on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The album's centerpiece, "Kamonohashi," is a modern-day Kyoto counting song that carries on the tradition of singing the names of the bridges spanning Kyoto's Kamo River. This masterpiece marks the culmination of the band's current 10-year iteration, built on the concept of "rock 'n' roll to be sung for 1,000 years," bridging Kyoto's culture and the city's memories to the future!
With over 1,200 years of history, Kyoto remains home to a vibrant "counting song" culture, best exemplified by the famous "Marutake Ebisu" song. "Kamonohashi," included on the album, inherits this lineage, serving as a modern-day counting song that traverses the bridges of Kyoto's Kamo River from south to north. Infused with the desire to preserve Kyoto’s culture and scenery for 100, 200, and even 1,000 years to come, it is envisioned as a "talismanic song" that people can sing to one another as they walk the streets and cherish the landscapes.
The recording features a lineup of talented musicians led by Lee Tabasco, including Tetsuya Kajiwara (ex. THE BLUE HEARTS), Eiji Suzuki (Dachambo), Kazutoki Umezu, COTA, and Marron. The album was produced, mixed, and mastered by Makoto Kubota and includes an intense remix by Psykovsky. Comprising five tracks that intertwine rock, psychedelia, festival music (matsuri-bayashi), and folklore, the album is an ambitious work that vividly fuses local culture with a modern sound.
Furthermore, the jacket art is by manga artist Tetsu-Hide. Drawing inspiration from his sessions with Lee Tabasco, he created the artwork with his unique line work and a psychedelic worldview, powerfully expressing the world of the album from a visual perspective as well. By carrying Kyoto's culture and memories through rock 'n' roll to be sung into the future—FRYING DUTCHMAN has completed a record filled with the scale only they can provide.
A crowdfunding campaign for this project will begin on July 26.

There was still uncharted musical territory in Japan. It was FRYING DUTCHMAN who struck this massive gold mine. Riding on a groove so thick it’s suffocating, they sing as if laying a thick carpet across the entire room. Their subject: an enumeration of bridges.
"Kamonohashi" is a handball song that counts the bridges spanning Kyoto's Kamo River. As you continue to sing it, it gradually heats up, luring the listener into a trance and carrying them away to a magical city where monsters and spirits roam. Is this the reincarnation of a Buddhist chant, or a traditional *deroren* recitation?
Other tracks include the gut-wrenching dance tune "aho aho tensai," the "88 Boogie" where slide guitar and sax clash with raw bravado, and "Chinpu na Uta," which seems to gather up all the tenderness in the world. Its range and level of perfection make you want to scream, "Where were you hiding such masterpieces?" It is an album that squeezes out every last drop of FRYING DUTCHMAN's power. And the final "kamonohashi remix" is essentially a hazardous material. It is a masterpiece that requires extreme caution.

【Profile】
FRYING DUTCHMAN
Formed in 2002 in Kyoto, led by Kota, with Ryota, LEE, and Asao joining. Welcoming producer and percussionist Ran Noge, they released their 1st album, "I wanna go out." They have toured globally, spanning Japan, Europe, Israel, India, Asia, and Taiwan. Their 2011 song "humanERROR" was shared worldwide, gaining support from people across all categories, not just rock fans, and sparking a resonance of the soul. They embarked on the "humanERROR 1 Million People Parade," touring 47 prefectures. With a total of approximately 70,000 participants, it became a massive movement where the song rang out simultaneously across Japan and the rest of the world.
In 2012, with Makoto Kubota as producer, they released their 2nd album, "Chinpunkanpun." Blessed with many encounters across the country, they performed at numerous major festivals and parties, including "FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL," "RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL," "ARABAKI ROCK FEST.," and "SUNSET LIVE." Their gigs carry an anecdote that even if it starts to rain or storm, the clouds always clear once they begin playing. At the "Goodbye Nuclear Power 10 Million People Action" in Yoyogi Park, where 170,000 people gathered, they welcomed saxophonist Kazutoki Umezu as a member and delivered a frenzied stage performance before a crowd of over 20,000. They became the "eye of the typhoon" in the 2012 music scene.
Following the departure of original members by 2015, powerful rhythm section members Tetsuya Kajiwara (ex. THE BLUE HEARTS) and Eiji Suzuki (Dachambo) joined in 2016. Alongside accordionist ryotaro and LEE, they accelerated their activities as the new FRYING DUTCHMAN.
After the subsequent departure of ryotaro, they restarted as a trio consisting of:
LEE TABASCO (Vo/Gt)
Eiji Suzuki (Bass)
Tetsuya Kajiwara (Drums)
They are currently charging forward toward the production of their long-awaited new album and a tour.
Rock’n roll.
