Francis / 反撥 "Hanpatsu" / 可愛い玩具 "Kawaii Omocha" [7-inch] / UCT-042

[Product Details]

Francis (Makoto Kosato) releases a 7-inch single cut from his 2nd album in 27 years!

Starting his full-fledged music career with the band Picky Picnic, released by the German label Ata Tak in 1985. After stints with ORIGINAL LOVE and THE COLLECTORS, Makoto Kosato began his solo activities under the unit Francis, and is also active with Haruko Tajima of Zoomgals as the unit "Haruko to Francis," having released two mini-albums to date. Approximately 27 years since his 1st mini-album BurningBear! in 1994, the long-awaited 7-inch cut from this year's September release of his 2nd album Bolero has been confirmed!

The A-side features "Hanpaku" with a mix of illicit tsuboi. It would be described as a mix of Neue Deutsche Welle and AOR. The unique worldview of Kosato is reflected in this fantastic blend, resulting in a pop song that becomes quite addictive.

And on the B-side, we have "Kawaii Omocha", a funky Latin City Rock tune featuring Kenichi Shirane on drums. Singing about the complexities of adult matters, this song might be described as a song by Serge Gainsbourg of Tokyo in that aspect. The jacket features newly created artwork by OdaJima for the analog release. This is definitely one of the albums to listen to in 2021.
