Uri Nakayama/ マホロバ "Mahoroba" (CD) / UBCA-1052

[Description]

the 9th Original Album, produced by herself.

Continuing from his previous work, this album marks all self-produced. Last year, she boldly embarked on her first guitar solo tour, further expanding the breadth of her expression. In this latest creation, she showcases her talents as a multi-instrumentalist, playing vocals, accordion, guitar, trumpet, posthorn, marimba, and more by herself.

The title Mahoroba refers to a utopia or an ideal paradise. In this album, she sings about the emotions that arise when trying to accept the partings with the things close to her that occurred in real life. Sometimes humorous, sometimes serene, the songs reflect the artist's contemplation on these departures. The wish throughout the album is for both the departing from her world and their destinations to be Mahoroba — an ideal paradise. This theme resonates strongly throughout the entire work.

    Song Commentary by herself

    1. "Fura Fura Koko"

"Furakoko" means "swing" in Portuguese. A pleasant tune with a groovy electric guitar wah-wah and chorus in the interludes and outro.

    2. "Seishun Ojisan"

A lively and somewhat exotic melody that feels like riding a bicycle joyfully. The steelpan creates a tropical atmosphere.

    3. "Sekken Sui"

A relatively new track on the album, both lyrics and music were created simultaneously. The song features playful arrangements with multi-tracked choruses and a synth bass.

    4. "Yoi Yoi Mahoroba"

Inspired by fireworks seen in Katagai, Niigata prefecture, lyrics were added to a song in progress. The pleasant organ by So Kubayashi adds a nice touch.

    5. "Rojiura no Tango"

Inspired by an encounter with a stray cat family, this song has a distinctive irregular rhythm. The outro gives an image of the stray cats boldly marching on their own.

    6. "Watashi no Makka na Jitensha"

It captures the feeling of riding a bike without training wheels for the first time, following from "Rojiura no Tango" with accents from the flute and steelpan section.

    7. "Masshiro Ke"

Created during a series of consecutive typhoons. The groove of percussion by Takeshi Miyagawa in the interlude is both hot and cool.

    8. "Dance Dance Dance"

A classical 3/4 time straight ballad highlighted by the warmth of flutes and clarinets.

    9. "Haru ni Nareba"

A country-style track where Kazuya Fukuzawa's electric guitar shines with a light and sometimes poignant touch.

    10. "Onaji Yume"

The last song created for the album. It features clarinet ensemble, along with oboe, horn, and trumpet, resulting in a dreamy finish.
