Born on April 27, 1944, in Akasaka, Tokyo.

In 1963, he formed the Modern Folk Quartet.

In 1966, his solo debut song, "Bara ga Saita", became a major hit in Japanese popular music history. He is also known for songs like "Kiraku ni Ikou", featuring the phrase "Nōnbiri Ikō-ze Ore tachi ha"(In English, it would be translated as "We shall go at our own pace") in commercials. He lived in Hawaii for six years, where he worked as a DJ on a local radio program. He currently resides in Minami kujūkuri, Chiba Prefecture.

 

In 2006, he celebrated his 40th anniversary as a singer. He is active in television, commercials, and more, appearing regularly on programs such as BS Fuji's "Be Ponkikki" and "Walking Plus."

 

-Ren Takada

 

A versatile string instrument player specializing in steel guitar.

Born in 1973 as the eldest son of folk singer Wataru Takada.

At the age of 17, he made his recording debut on the album of the late Kyozo Nishioka.

 

In 2002, he released his first album, LULUBY. He has been active as a multi-string instrument player, including steel guitar, and has participated in recordings and live performances of artists such as YMO, Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi, Kazuyoshi Saito, Quruli, and Gen Hoshino. He has also released five albums as a solo artist.

 

In 2013, he released a new album titled "Ensemble," marking his first release in about six years.

In April 2015, a tribute album titled "Coffee Blues: Singing Wataru Takada" was released to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Wataru Takada's passing.
